ABOUT NWOP

Our Story So Far

What started as a quiet call to prayer has grown into a nationwide movement — one gathering, one community, one changed heart at a time.

HOW IT BEGAN

A vision born in prayer

In early 2024, a partnership of Christian ministries were brought together by the Holy Spirit. We had a united vision; to humble ourselves, repent, and pray for lives to be transformed by Jesus, and to see a spiritual awakening in the nations, at what feels like a particularly significant time in the UK.

"Throughout the week, we saw catalysed a movement of prayer up and down the United Kingdom and British Isles."

The inaugural National Week of Prayer (NWoP) in October 2024, was a moment where followers of Jesus from all denominations, backgrounds and communities united in prayer, worship and intercession, as we returned to the Lord and sought His heart for our nation. We saw people feeling empowered to host multiple gatherings, drawing together the many faithful prayer networks — all sizes of churches from large to house churches, Christian not-for-profits, businesses, education institutions, small gatherings in homes and community halls — uniting as the Body of Christ to pursue Jesus.

In 2025 (6–14 September), as the Lord continues to amaze us with His kindness and His power, and as He stirs and awakens the Church up and down the British Isles, we felt led to go again!

There will be some centrally organised events across cities and regions, but we are also looking for individuals, local communities and churches that may catch this vision and join us to pray, and even host their own prayer and worship gatherings. We want to encourage fellow believers to pray and arrange those gatherings appropriate to their unique context, guided by one objective: to see the Church united in prayer for this nation, our leaders and the nations.

We are so excited and expectant to see the Lord's hand continue to move across our nation. Come, Lord Jesus!

Our Values

    • Jesus at the Centre
This is not about us. The National Week of Prayer exists to lift high the name of Jesus and to seek His heart for our land. (John 12:32)

    • Unity in Diversity
We belong to no single denomination or organisation. Together as one Body across traditions, backgrounds, and generations, we stand united in prayer. (Ephesians 4:4–6)

    • Faith for Transformation
We believe God hears and answers prayer, and we approach Him with the expectation that He will transform lives, communities, and our nation. (Mark 11:24)

    • Kingdom Fruit as well as wise Metrics
We measure success in how many gatherings register to pray, but even more so in lives transformed, churches awakened, and the name of Jesus glorified across the land. (John 15:16)

    • No Egos, No Logos — with a Spirit of Unity
We are not driven by sponsorships or self-promotion. Logos are used to identify those who freely give their time and resources, often at cost to themselves, and to display the unity amongst us. (Romans 12:5)

    • Prayer Over Profile
We come to humble ourselves before God, not to build platforms or elevate personalities. Prayer is our focus, not publicity. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

    • Living by the Spirit
We seek to show love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control in all we do. (Galatians 5:22–23)

    • Christlike Posture
We aim to reflect the humility, compassion, and truth of Jesus in how we live and pray, even while recognising our weakness and need for His grace. (Philippians 2:5)

    • The Grace to Say Sorry
When we fall short, we repent quickly, seek forgiveness, and start again — knowing His mercies are new every morning. (1 John 1:9)

    • Hospitality and Welcome
We create spaces where everyone is welcomed and valued as part of God’s family. (Romans 15:7)

    • Humility in Leadership
Those who lead do so as servants, seeking to decrease so that Christ may increase. (John 3:30)

    • Trust in God’s Provision
We do not run fundraising campaigns. Instead, we welcome gifts given as the Lord leads, trusting Him to provide for what He initiates. (Philippians 4:19)

    • Generosity and Sacrifice
Those who serve, lead and host gatherings do so freely, offering their time and resources as worship. (1 Peter 4:10)

    • Simplicity of Purpose
We keep the vision clear: to see the Church united in prayer for the United Kingdom and its leaders, and for the nations. (Matthew 6:33)

    • Dependence on the Holy Spirit
We acknowledge our need for the Spirit to lead every step, for without Him our words are empty and our efforts powerless. (Zechariah 4:6)

    • Perseverance in Prayer
We commit not just to a week, but to a lifestyle of prayer, intercession, and watchfulness over our nation. (Colossians 4:2)

    • Integrity and Transparency
We handle everything from finances to relationships with honesty and openness, reflecting the character of Christ in our stewardship. (2 Corinthians 8:21)

Return to me,” declares the Lord Almighty, “and I will return to you.” ~Zechariah 1:3
